XF-Board: Prototype Platform for Reconfigurable Hardware Operating System

We present the XF-BOARD, a prototyping platform for reconfigurable hardware operating system research. The platform is based on two tightly coupled FPGAs. One FPGA implements a soft CPU core that controls the overall system; the second FPGA is used as dynamically reconfigurable hardware resource. The main features of the prototyping platform are fast partial reconfiguration and readback, advanced clock control, a multitude of memory and I/O, and support for the 1D resource model by connecting all memory and I/O to the left and right device edges. Thus, all peripherals and memories are directly accessible by the operating system.
